501 squire fit

Hi all.

I recently purchased a 501 - squire. Nice knife. The locking bar
that you push down on to disengage the lock is not flush with the
case when the knife is closed. At the back of the knife the bar
sticks up and at the front it is below the case. Can anyone tell
me is this the way it's supposed to be? I sent my original back
asking to have it adjusted and have some rivets I thought were
sticking up to far fixed. They sent me a new one (I think). The
lock bar is the same, the rivets are better and now the blade is
not centered. Seems like I lost ground. I also recently purchased
a 110 and it's fit is perfect.

Thanks in advance

Chuck

I have some of the very early 501's and the release was significantly higher than the later ones, and they sure are easier to unlock. Keep in mind that the cutout is a lot smaller on the 501 than it is on a 110. What you are looking at as a problem may be asthetically less appealing but yet a practical advantage.

Thanks for the reply Vern. Good thought but the bar is flush
when the knife is open and raised in the back when it is closed.
No advantage there that I can see.
