I have just about completed my collection of 50th anniversary Model 110 variants. I'm only missing two.

One is the SMKW "transition" model (2013-2 BUJ11OT - the blade says "2013-2014 Buck Transition 1 of 250"). I've found some on the big auction site but they are too expensive to acquire just yet.

The other is the non-finger-grooved, medallion-in-the handle version but with a normal 2013 date-coded blade. That seems very difficult to find. Does anyone have any idea how many of this particular variant were made?

I hear ya on the SMKW Transition 1 of 250. Those have been selling for more than four times their original cost.

I have not seen the 2013 with medallion. I've heard they are there, but it doesn't make sense that any were produced unless it was a mistake.
It would have had to been after about February if I remember right because the "50/USA" stamp with no medallion was first. I think those started early December, but maybe even in November of 2013.

There are a good number of "50/USA" stamped blades with the medallion.

Then came the final and most used variation…the "BUCK/50/USA" stamp with a cover medallion. To make things more confusing…I have one standard 110 with "BUCK/50/USA" without a medallion. That may have been a reblade or just using up parts.

I talked to Billy Bates at Blade about the rarest of the bunch and he said the "50/USA" finger groove with no medallion was what he wished he had picked up.
I've heard there were 240 of those made. I've seen about 5 or 6. I have two of only three I've actually seen up for sale.

I think the rarest is the Plum Paperstone with the "50/USA" since there was only a small run in early December, 2013 before they were discontinued. There are more of the green Paperstone 110s out there with that stamp, but they were also discontinued.

Of course, if there really was a run of 110s with 2013 stamps and cover medallions, I think those would be the rarest. The timeline just doesn't make sense for these to be around, but anything can happen with Buck. :)

I think Armand has a 50th with a 2013 blade that got through. I just sold a boxed set that had a Weld with a 2013 stamp. I think those are both mistakes. I've not seen or heard of any others, but that doesn't mean they aren't out there.

Hope that made a little bit of sense.

I went back to check on box dates with knife variations.

Thanks Stumps for the replies.
I have all of these:
110 "50/USA" Plum Paperstone
110 "50/USA" green Paperstone
110 "50/USA" standard with no shield
110 "50/USA" finger groove with no shield (found on the big auction site, it was from Canada)
110 "50/USA" standard with shield
110 "50/USA" finger groove with shield
110 "BUCK/50/USA" standard with shield
110 "BUCK/50/USA" finger groove with shield
The 2013 SMKW 110 with buffalo covers with "BUCK 50" etched on the mark side cover and "1963-2013" etched on the blade
SMKW "Pilot Run" 50th
SMKW "Final Production Run" 50th
SMKW Masonic logo 50th
Chairman with Anvil/50/USA/Buck tang stamp
Stars & Stripes 50th
Federal, Magnolia, Weld & Lochsa 50ths
Boone & Crockett 50th (<- my least favorite 50th)
Cabela's AG 50th
Factory blemish of Cabela's AG 50th (No AG logo on blade)

However, still missing:
1. Thread subject 110 w/ medallion and 2013 tang stamp (Armand, you are a lucky guy!)
2. SMKW Transition 50th
3. SMKW standard 50th (but with engraved bolsters)
4. Chairman 50th but with only Anvil/50/USA (no Buck) tang stamp
5. Model 0110BRSDU (Ducks Unlimited?) with 50th blade

The Weld you had must have been pretty rare.

Thanks again for the information. I hope to put together some photos of the group soon. I decided early on to attempt to focus on a collection specialty within the Model 110 family or else my storage space, money and wife's temper would have been blown long ago. So, I made a "Focus Statement":

I will specialize in Buck Model 110 factory-made knives that commemorate an anniversary that is relative to the Buck Knives company or Buck family.

Thanks to a fellow BCCI member I now have some numbers to put up.

0110-BRS-B (standard 110)

Variation 1, "50/USA" with no medallion, approximate dates 12-1-13 to 12-19-13, approximate production 11,000
Variation 2, "50/USA" with medallion, approximate dates 12-20-13 to 2-15-14, approximate production 26,670
Variation 3, "BUCK/50/USA" with medallion, approximate dates 2-16-14 to 12-31-14, approximate production 160,000

0110-BRSFG-B (finger groove 110)

Variation 1, "50/USA" with no medallion, approximate dates 12-1-13 to 12-19-13, approximate production 240
Variation 2, "50/USA" with medallion, approximate dates 12-20-13 to 2-15-14, approximate production 992
Variation 3, "BUCK/50/USA" with medallion, approximate dates 2-16-14 to 12-31-14, approximate production 5,000

There is no mention of any 2013 blades which makes sense with the above timelines.

My earliest according to dates on boxes are 11-14-13.

Hi Trevor,
I would love to see a list of all the variants. I remember a thread on this awhile back but it sounds like you have a compiled/comprehensive list.

Mr. Stumps, thanks for your posts. I can't beat your date but have one at 11-18-13.

This is my list of the Model 110 50th Anniversary variants.
Note: I did not include any variants that used a standard Buck 110 50th Anniversary and just added their brand name etched on the blade (e.g. Hornaday or Boone & Crockett). These just seemed too cheap to me to be worth collecting.

Good stuff trevorklat!

I'll make a few comments about what I see or don't see in your list;

I don't see the boxed set of which there were 110 pieces.

SMKW also had the Ichthus logo along with the Masonic logo.

Was there a series with just Chuck and CJ's name on it from SMKW, or was that the one with Josh's signature also…the three generations signatures?

I have Stars and Stripes with the early stamp…"50/USA".

I still have not seen proof of the third one down in your list.
It is not mentioned by Buck in the totals they listed in the BCCI newsletter and in fact does not fit into any timeline.
Buck specifically states they wanted to make sure all 2014 production 110s celebrated the 50th Anniversary.
I'm sure there were some 2013 blades that slipped through just like I mentioned on the Weld in that boxed set I just sold.

There was a special run of five made by David Yellowhorse commemorating the 50th.

There were two versions made by our own club, BCCI, that were to commemorate the 110's 50th.
They were the copper bolster 110, one with a mirror finish 420HC blade with BCCI logo and one with S35VN blade
Not one word was mentioned anywhere on those knives...tang, blade or covers of the 50th Anniversary of the 110.
That seemed like a huge mistake for a knife that was our club's knife especially promoted and produced just for that purpose.

Again, thanks for your work on compiling the list.:thumbup::thumbup:

Hope my comments help some. :)

I just remembered another not on your list.
There was a Cabelas exclusive Buck 110 50th Anniversary tin.

Here are a few more things you might look for your 50th collection if you don't already have;

There were also clothing and baseball caps and one of the tin sets even had a 50th logo on the sheath.

I'm surely forgetting some. :)

The B&C 50th tin from Dicks had the distinct 50th sheath. I actually bought two so I would have a user sheath I liked them so much.

Thank you Stumps and I will correct my list accordingly. You are a fountain of Buck-related knowledge. It looks like I have a few more 110s to add to my 50th Anniversary collection!

I am also working on the following Buck-related anniversary 110s:

- 25th anniversary of the 110
- 40th anniversary of the 110
- 100th anniversary of Hoyt Buck's first knife (1902)
- last year of 110 production in El Cajon
- first year of 110 production in Post Falls
- 5th year anniversary of Post Falls
- 10th year anniversary of Post Falls

It's a good thing I originally developed a Focus Statement because even this focus represents a large number (to me) of knives. (I'll admit that I have also bought several new knives 110s and 119s that were outside my focus so don't tell the wife.) That's OK though because I like to be able to support an American company with Christian values. The Buck family represents the antithesis of America's new entitlement society.
