Hey Guys,

I was thinking about getting a nice knife for my 50th birthday. I am looking for a knife that costs under $250 and is a custom knife that can perform all needs in the outdoors from game preparation, preparing fish, making fires, ect.

One of my initial thoughts is the Dozier Professional Guide knife. Who owns one and what are your thoughts?

What other knives do you suggest and if you own the Dozier Professional Guide, how does it compare to other knives you may like better?

Thanks,

Geoff

Congrats on the upcommin' half century mark, I'll be there in two weeks, give or take, myself.

I have an original Dozier Arkansas Toothpick that I carried for a year as an EDC, great knife great carry system, I doubt you could go wrong with one of Bobs knives.

I'd suggest you take a gander at what is being offered over in the Makers, Fixed Blade section.

On a daily basis, there are custom made blades on display, and for sale, and worth far more than the blade smiths are charging.

+1

There are a lot of great makers here that have all kinds of good blades for the price.

There are quite a few exceptional makers here who make great outdoors knives. Koyote, Fiddleback, NWA, Gossman, Laconico, Wohlwend, Garrett, and on and on. Look around here and you'll find someone who makes a knife to your liking and style.

I've looked at that Dozier several times; it looks like a great knife, but it is exactly like the other Dozier Pro guide knives out there. The guys I listed above will make a unique knife for you, just as you are unique and unique at 50. I've got a couple of Dozier personals and really like them, but for my 50th, I'm ordering a custom. ;)

Fiddleback, Loconico or Rick Mancheran (I'm probably spelling all of their names wrong) get my vote.
