511 clothing question.........

hi, am fixing to order 2 511 shirts, a tac polo and the std long sleeve button down, i have heard IIRC that 511 is sized large for body armor, since i dont wear armor very often should i go down 1 size for a proper fit(ie wear XL get L.....)?? or am i not remembering correctly...........?

I ordered a long sleeve shirt from them in XL. I normally wear an XL and it fits great.
 
I've had a couple pairs of the Tactical Shorts from them that I have worn each and every day of the school year starting this past August...I mean every single day! These things have held up like champs. I just placed an order for a couple of pair more along with the Tactical Vest. Anyone have this vest? How do you like it?
 
An observation and then a question/request:
<1> Where in the south do you live? ("fixing to" gave it away - I'm outside of Nashville)

<2> I would suggest looking at Wilderness Products website - they have (I guess a number of places do as well) a deal where if you order $100+ from them, they will throw in a special 5.11 Tactical hat (baseball style) that is NOT available for purchase otherwise.

The request would be, if you order from there, and do NOT want the hat, I would gladly buy it from you. Let me know if that is an option for you and for me.

Thanks and good luck. 5.11 stuff is great stuff. Sorry that I cannot answer your question about the body armor issue, all I have so far is pants and shorts - you order those by inch sizes.

so ya think i should just go the std size (ie XL) ?

i live in round rock, near austin texas.

am ordering from brigade quartermaster, IIRC they are giving away the cap with any 511 purchase, while supplies last, let me see what it looks like i might would give ya the thing if i'm not crazy about it. or if ya want the cap, order some pants/etc, am pretty sure its free with any purchase from BQ, i got a catalog last week with all the 511 stuff they have now, lots of neat stuff by the way,

I have 3 of their vests and love them. Kind of on the heavy side. Did not realize how heavy they were until I put one on a hangar and held it. Anyway, these things are great. Wore it when I went to San Diego for a week. Only think about them is trying to remember what pocket you put what in.
 
Hey, heavy works for me. Thanks for the info. I've ordered mine out of BQ also and the hat does come with any 5.11 purchase.

That's easy if you wear it all day every day! :D (I know, I go through the routine, patting vest pockets looking for the Perfect Tool -- it's in there somewhere :confused: )
