i'm a conscript soldier and i was gifted a 511 cs1 to carry whenever i serve, i am not a big knife guy and this is probably not the ideal knife for general usage but i went with it.

I was very disappointed the other day however when i jumped from a truck and the knife flipped open almost puncturing my upper thigh, the knife was clipped on the inside of my left leg pocket

wondering if anyone knows of this knife if it is common flip open like that or even common for this flip style knifes to open when performing activities such as jumping.

any recommendations for a replacement are also welcome

thanks

Clip it to your pocket so the spine of the blade is fully against the rear of the pocket. It can't open that way.

If you can't do that then find a small pouch like a pistol mag pouch and wear it on your belt or vest/plate carrier/web gear.

I think with any kind of flipper knife that is a possibility that it could pop open with a jarring motion. Especially if it has a weak detent.
I’m thinking something like a Buck 110 sport or 112 sport would not pop open but they are still one hand opening. The cam tang and back spring would keep it closed until you want it open.

What do you like about this one (i.e. what are you looking for in a replacement), and what's your budget?
i like that it flips and the fact that the blade had some thickness to it. Also felt like a quality tool (given the recent experience i no longer classify it as 'quality' tool however)

The tanto edge i went for it knowing is an overkill and not really a requirement as i don't think i will ever deploy such a blade in combat. I got my bayonette for that :D.

So basically i'm looking for a general use blade that has a 1) discreet size 2) sturdy/quality build

budget is 100eur

I stopped carrying liner locks in my pockets after having one open in my pocket and slice me up pretty badly at an inopportune time. I only carry lockbacks in my pocket now. I've never had one open without trying. A belt sheath is another option that is pretty safe but it needs a belt and is advertising you are carrying.
