Picked up a 512OT at a flea market. Same size as sharpfinger, just wondered if it was a factory second of a 152OT with a mis-stamped tang?

tang is stamped:

SCHRADE+
U.S.A. 512OT

Do you find these mis-stamps common?

Also from the same dealer, a 72OT, a 55OTG, and the 512OT. $32 for three knives...I'm proud of that find!

upon further research from the forum, this is indeed a 512OT. wow...now that is even cooler that a mis-stamped 152ot! circa '89-92. common?

It is not a misstamp. I, and several others have the knives and the special boxes they came in. In the fall of 1990, Schrade began a brief experiment using stainless steel on the Sharpfinger pattern with it's familiar Old Timer handle. At the same time, they did an Old Timer folder (Larry has this one). The tangstamp prints have since surfaced, so these, along with the specifically printed and dated boxes (and the fact that these were found out in the public, not from the factory auction), confirm that these were not errors.

Here is a thread where Larry and I discussed these.

that's it! i suspect i have a non-original sheath (black nylon, reminds me of the ones from the schrade 140-series). it fits it, but may not be original.
