I just got an email from [a non-BF dealer for whom we do not advertise] saying that they have a few 112s in stock with the 5160 blades. I bought another one because these are terrific knives and I don’t see them getting made again since Buck is not taking SFOs any longer. Just a heads up:)

I already have the clip point version. I wasn't aware there was a drop point version.

Thank you very much for the heads up. I've been wanting to try Buck's 5160 for awhile now but have never really been able to find any in stock.

You will not be disappointed!

I'm looking forward to it, man. I don't think I have had a Buck lockback around since I was a teen - it will be good to get one back in and in a steel I've become fond of from other places.

Enjoy it, Dylan! Hard to beat a 112, and Buck’s 5160 is a monster. The heat treat on it is almost magical.

I might wind up buying one of these myself. Dang it. I need another knife like another hole in my head.

does the 5160 keep a Good edge with their heat treatment? Experience anyone willing to share?

Thanks for the heads-up! But don't you think Buck will start taking SFOs again once life returns to pre-2020 normal?
The young man responsible for scheduling SFO's left Buck in late 2018 or early pre Covid's 2019.
Buck hasn't been able to fill that position since he left. Note I don't know how hard they've tried. If I had to guess, I'd guess "Not very hard"
At any rate, very few SFO's have been made sense.
I don't see the situation changing any time soon.

Caleb is hard to replace. Your info is spot on.

Bucks 5160 is really good.
