I know this is a 51OT (ebay Item number: 6635255984) except the 51OT I already has is marked specifically with it on the tang.

What do you guys think? Why would there be no model number on the tang?
The 51OT is one of my favorite Old Timer folders. I'm glad I won it.

Yes, it is a 51OT. I posted a picture of Schrades with no tangstamps, and etched tangstamps a short while back. A fellow from Oz e-mailed me about a knife he had with no stamp. Schrade was known to hold stock for warranty replacements, sometimes with no stamp. An etched stamp marking might be added for Sears, LL Bean, Schrade, or whoever, or it might be just sent out without the etch. Etches were often worn off too. For now at least, most Schrade knives are so undervalued that they are not worth a counterfieter's time, and so far, copies by other makers are different enough from the originals that it is obvious to the trained eye.

PS - But if you are still unsure, buy a marked one as well and compare the details. I find that a dozen examples is enough to get a good cross section of production.

Well that explains it then, thanks Codger. I already have one with tang stamp, now I have one without. It's a very cool to have a large folder in this pattern. One of my favs.
