51OT question and intro.

Years ago, I had an LB7 that I carried for about 15 years. Well, my tastes changed and I went modern with the Chris Reeve and Les George and the like. Now that I'm getting older, I long for the old days. So, I recently purchased vintage 51OT's. I love them. They are carbon steel, but I would like to know which flavor. Also, if they are carbon, they sure take their time acquiring any sort of patina.

I assure you, these are not from China. They both came in the original old boxes, with paperwork and sheath and smell like upstate NY. :)

Thank you and I look forward to hangin' around and learning a lot about my old favorites. I promise. I'll post pictures of my Schrades at another time.

Are your knives 51OT, the big sunfish lockback style knives? As far as I know, they are all carbon steel.

Yes, that is exactly what I have.

Also, thank you for the link. I read it and am glad to learn it is 1095. I really like that steel. All my other 1095 blades don't resist staining quite this good though. If time permits, I'll try to get some photos up tomorrow.
