From the attached pictures, can anyone tell me if this 51OT would have been made in 1977. It is my understanding that the knife hit the market in 77 or 78. Also, does anyone recognize the name Dan or Don Davis on the certificate. I purchased the knife w/sheath and cert. in the box 10 to 15 years ago and have been curious about it for a while. Thanks in advance for any info.

The catalogs show them in 1978 through 1981. I am inclined to believe without further evidence that the descriptive flyer is accurate. I have one just like it. They are nice knives, are they not?

I've never seen anything like it. It looks like the number is stamped in blue on the bolster. I haven't seen that on any other Old Timers, but the blade etch sure looks like Schrade's work.

I wonder if they did "collectors" releases for other models as well?

Definitely legit, BTW that's Don Lewis's signature. Looks to be in great shape!

Thanks for the info guys. Sorry about getting the name wrong. Good thing I got a pic of the certificate. The number is engraved on the bolster but didn't show up in the picture of the knife. I also meant to ask if the steel in this blade is stainless or not. Other Schrades that I have had with stainless blades had a "S" stamped on the tang. This one does not. I have not used it. It has just sat in my collection. The blade shows no rust spots. The knife is not mint as there are some scratches on the bolsters. I don't think it has been used though as the edge looks factory and there are no dings on the handle.

There are a few knives that I own that I do not use. This is one of them. I just enjoy having it. I like big folders and every time I get this one out and play with it, it makes me smile.
