I just ordered a 1999 521 off of eBay. Does anyone know what steel was used for the blade and handles? Thanks in advance for your help.
 
Thanks. Also, do you know the name of the model 521 (eg Gent, Squire, etc.)? In addition, does anyone know the years it was produced, and did Buck ever make a "503" size with all stainless scales or any other sizes besides the 521 and 525? As always, thanks for sharing your knowledge.
 
The 521 is named VIP-I. The mirror polished version 522 is named VIP-II.
Looks like the plain stainless 521 was in the catalog from 1990 to 2000.
There were 3 Artist Series limited edition picture knives in 2006.
