52100/410 San Mai kitchen set with Blackwood

It’s been a while since I posted a knife in this section. I have been very overwhelmed with my real job, but did take on this project this year. Of course I missed my deadline by 11 days or so.

These are 52100/410 San Mai, heat treated to Rc63. The handles are African Blackwood, sanded to 4000 grit and lightly waxed. Overall, I’m pretty happy with how these turned out. I still have to sharpen them (they are at 0.002” right now). Should go out in the mail on Friday.

The Blackwood looks really good to me.

Blue isn’t my favorite, but I get a lot of requests for blue. So I keep a bunch of blue stuff on hand.

The customer got them thursday, and I exceeded their expectations. It’s a nice feeling to make something pretty that cuts very well.
