Edited to Update! Hawks are now available! Also did some testing and have photos on the second page.

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd share my new hawk design. Ive been working on this model since last December and it will finally be coming to life soon in the form of a small run. This is a 100% utility hawk that will hopefully excel at both chopping and fine work. I designed it to have a massive cutting edge and positive forward weight while being compact. I put alot of focus into the choked up grip and with the proper edge geometry it should be great for tasks that you would normally use a knife for. No frills, bells or whistles, just no nonsense working man's design. The first run is .21 52100 with a 4.25 cutting edge and 12.2 overall length. Im hoping the finished weight with handles will be under 29 ounces.

I am still finishing up a degree and have had no time to work but I hope to get started grinding in a week or two. :D

Finally had some time to work today. Ground and ready for HT. This one is full convex. Im worried about warpage so I left the edge pretty thick.

Coming along. These are almost ready for HT. Sending them to peter's in a few days. The HT will be 58RC with a spring tempered body and hopefully a nice sharp hamon on the cutting edge and poll

Handles are going to be really cool. I have solid orange G10, black canvas, camo canvas, and natural canvas micarta, stabilized curly maple, stabilized Koa, and I'm going to do a few laminate handles. The laminate handles will be half wood/ half micarta. I haven't seen it done before on a hawk and it should look awesome. I'm doing 4 that way with curly mango and natural canvas.
