Another recently finished piece. I was inspired by the recent JS submissions and thought to try a satin finish on 52100 this time.
I discovered not only the beauty in this kind of finish but the ruthlessness as well. ;)
There is a ghost of a temper line up near the spine. Just can't get rid of them I guess. :p:p

As mentioned the blade is 52100 at a length of 4 3/4" with a wide profile. The OAL is 9 7/16".

The fittings are 416SS with copper and black g10 and the wood is a killer piece of Koa from Mark at BurlSource.

I have had this piece of wood for over a year and just couldn't bring myself to use it. I have a few pieces like that, so nice that I don't want to use them.. I did a video to try to show the chatoyance..

The other side of the knife looks the same.. :o

Nice finish on the blade but I can't take my eyes off the handle. That's a beautiful piece of wood and your finish on it is outstanding.

Sweet hunter Stuart - love the Koa!. Good idea to turn out a few satin finish blades in the mix. Nice work. Is there a different finish on this handle - looks semi-glossy?

Thanks for the comments.

I guess it's just worked a little further. This Koa gets more and more interesting the further you go so it was worth the extra time to get it to this clear finish.

Beautiful knife Stuart.
One of the best finishes I have seen on a wood handle.
Your extra effort really shows.

Stuart that is very nice I love the finish on the Koa but in your video was missing the music to really set the mood for a good handle viewing;)

Love it Stuart! Are you keeping this one or is it on it's way to a new owner? Two of my favorite combos... Koa and 52100... would make a fantastic hunting companion!!

^^^ Last I heard it was available - but I don't imagine it will stay that way for long.
