Has anyone tried this yet?
I am thinking the light areas of the G10 would run nicely with the black.
Perhaps a blue-black, red-black, green-black etc.
Hopefully some could ring in?
Cheers

You can dye G-10 with RIT dye from the grocery store.
I hear that the RIT is good stuff.
Hoping someone has done one of these grey/black handles, like those on the 531. Mine is fairly ghosty, so I am a bit worried on how they turn out.
Cheers

I saw a Blue/Black G10 Rift a while back. It looked really nice. Shouldn't be too hard. I know I saw a red/black Rift as well, but liked the blue one much better.

Search for Rift photos and you might get some hits.

Found a thread with a green rift

Here is the red rift on the first page

Thank you so much for this.
Cheers

I'm curious, did you end up dyeing your knife?
Not yet,
But I will be looking at doing that soon. Just getting finished with recent reno's at my house, (wood floors) of late.
For the 531, I am thinking of a darkish green that may hopefully turn out some kind of 'green hornet' metallic kind of look.
Will definitely be posting pics when done.
Cheers

Macknife, don't know if you ever ended up dyeing yours but I did do mine. I used Kelly Green, and as you can see the knife came out very blue. I actually really dig the blue color, but I do wish it had come out some shade of green. My thinking is the gray g10 already had a hefty dose of blue to it...so if you want green scales with this knife, you should go for some shade of yellow dye. Oh well, here's a picture

Love that blue. Would have never guessed you used green dye. You might be able to swap scales with someone and try again. I know I would prefer a blue over the stock gray.

That looks really great, nice job. You got the Superman blue going on.
I haven't got round to mine yet, but thanks a lot for the info. Great pic also.
Cheers

Eh, I wanted green but the blue is a happy accident, I dig it. Super easy to do too, if anyone is worried about it just do it. I also dyed a pair if socks cause why not.

I have found that using the liquid RIT is best. I generally use the full bottle with 3 cups of water, some salt, and a half cup of vinegar. I bring it to a low boil and let the scales simmer for at least 90 minutes, sometimes even longer. They get a rinse in hot water, and if they're the color I want, I scrub them with Dawn soap and rinse.
