I have a 531 with an X making it a 1990 everything I can find on this pattern says it was not released until 1991 in levines buck limited edition knives section it says 250 knives were issued to the buck
collecters club at 150 dollar issue price but the price tag on the box says 100.00 might be wrong box no sheath no paperwork also does anybody know if the factory has replacment sheaths for discontinued patterns thanks

The reference you made to the 531 club knife with a quantity of 250 is a 531 Sawby lock model. The Sawby locks were produced in 1989, about 500 were made before being recalled due to safety concerns. 250 of these recalled knives were etched and sold to Buck Collector Club members. The knife you have is the standard lock back version. I believe it was not sold until 1991, but may well have manufactured in 1990. The lock back version was the C.C. knife in 1991. Hope this clears the subject for you. I can't help with the availablity of sheaths, but this knife has been out of production for a number of years. Peace,
 
The 531 has been discontinued for a while now and unfortunately, due to its popularity, we do not have any more sheaths.

Hmm, I'm no Alfred Einstein, but if the 531 is <i>that</i> popular, you might consider ... :)
