532 Bucklock 2000 Collectability?

I recently purchased a walnut-handled Buck 532 Bucklock 2000 limited edition knife for a pretty good price. I could only get the one at the low price (otherwise I would bought a couple more to have one as a carry knife). I'm torn between actually carrying/using this super knife, and packing it away as a future collectable? I haven't sent in my application yet for the Buck Collectors Club, but will soon. Any recommendations?

Best regards,
Tim

I have owned 3 of these fine folders(2 with walnut wood and one with blue), and still own the 2 walnut ones. My good friend talked me out of the blue one. His rationale for carrying and using the blue one? According to him, "If I drop it or leave it on a stump, its easy to find as there is nothing that color blue out in the woods". Makes sense to me, but I still love the walnut colored wood, and carry and use one of mine everyday to work.

Tim,

I may be the wrong person to ask because i generally put very few knives into the "save it for later" category. The reason is because if you were really looking for an investment, stocks or even a bank account would be a good start.
You could save the knife for 20 years and since it is such a popular model, it might be worth twice what you paid for it. So your $100 knife is worth $200 now. Personally i would have gotten more than $100 worth of satisfaction by using the knife to cut things with over that 20 years. To me it would be a shame to let it sit on the shelf that long.
On the other hand, if increased value is secondary, and you collect for the sake of having a nice display of knives to show your friends and enjoy that way, i totally understand. I have both "kinds" of knives.

I can''t imagine that this actually helped any but i hope it did!

Take care,
