532 Limited Edition Question??

Here are a few scans of a 532 that I recieved as a gift. No paperwork with it. Just the knife, which I think has walnut scales, and the nice presentation box which I think is also walnut. The tang stamp reads 1997, but I was also wondering about the "PAT PEND" designation. I have a Year 2000 walnut 532, and it doesn't have this on it. Just wanted to know if anyone knows how many of these were made, and how much of a "Limited Edition" this knife is. I have heard tales a "secret" 532 lovers cult, and that some of them may lurk here. Any intel forthcoming would be appreciated. Will

I got one of those in Atlanta @ the Blade Show. It was a special project for NICA (a cutlery association). The box is labeled American Oak B532-SP1. The wooden display case is very cool and the icing on a wonderfull knife. I had 14 differnt 532's at last count, I must be a member of that "secret" club. I asked Joe once how many were done, but don't remmber his answer. I paid $65 for mine, and should have bought a couple more. Peace,

I checked on that knife and the computer says there were only 36 made in 2001. Looks like they were using up blades from 1997 for this project. Yes there is a secret society of 532 collectors but its a secret! :)
By the way, Chuck Buck loves this knife too!

I was very shocked to "hear" such a low number myself. I had to call Joe and confirm that quantity of 36. That is in fact what his 'puter shows, it has, however been wrong before. I saw 4 or 5 back in June, now I REALLY wish I had bought another. Please let me know if you EVER decide to part with it. I do love them 532's!!:D
