532 mastodon - what is that?

I was lucky to get 532 BP Ivory (BP8). Knife is beautiful and very accurate as all other Bass Pro customs, isn't it? Ivory has few scratches, but they make knife looks more special. Seller said that it is mastodon. Knife also has 2 signatures on the blade, please see the photos.
I just need to ask about your opinion in 2 questions:
- What is "mastodon"? Is it modern elephant, or some kind of prehistoric elephant, or mammoth maybe?
- Whose signatures are there on the blade?

Mastodons and mammoths were two different kinds of prehistoric elephants. Their ivory and in some cases their teeth can be used for decorative purposes.

I'm not familiar with all the people involved but the left sig looks like Chuck Buck and the right, also like Buck, but who exactly, I can't say.

That would be Chuck and CJ Bucks signatures.

Try googling mastodon, that should take care of that problem

I believe it would be the ivory also from the tusk? The mammoth teeth usually have alot of color in them. I could be wrong, I dont hae time to google it right now though. Good luck!
