I have a Buck catalog for 1998-1999 and it shows a model 532 with a bone or stag handle. Is this the same 532 model that I hear many speak of on this forum? Is there something about this model that makes it better/different that anything else that is available? Are there currently any available? When I look at the Buck web sight and click on "Order one now" for the 532 models, I get nothing.

Kodmag,

The 532 in the 1998 catalogue was a limited edition for that year. It had a jigged bone inlay and a limited edition medalion. This year we are offering three versions of the 532. You can pick from walnut, blue, or red inlays. The blade is made of Bg-42 steel. It is a completely diferent model than the one in 1998's catalogue and they should be available sometime in April.

Hope this helps,

Are the BG-42 532's a limited production run or are they going to be a permanent part of the Buck line-up?

Dennis,
The 532 models are not in the 2001 catalog.
Maybe next year?

The 532's are done, for now. I doubt that we'll see any more anytime soon.

However, since they are so popular with the folks over at Buck, it probably wouldn't take much to convince them that we need another limited edition with, say, stag handles and BG42 blades......?

How about it guys?

I'd buy them...and sell them.

The 532 is has a strange story for sure. I have never seen such a demand for a knife that was discontinued for lack of sales! Now where did i put my soapbox?
Everybody here loves them and if there is ever a chance to bring it back, it will happen.
Pup, nice website!

A real shame. Excellent materials and excellent quality. The only thing that would make it better would be a pocket clip and a thumb stud.
