Got my 532JB today from Chris and Marti at TOTK and it is unquestionably a beautiful piece. The file work scallops are
uniform and centered although not as deep or pronounced as on my 1991 original. That may
not be such a bad thing as the '91 model really digs into the flesh of your hand. Looks absolutely fantastic!
The big surprises were in the quality of the jigged bone.... deep rich dark brown with reddish hues. Much better than I have see on 99% of Buck, Case, Camillus, Bear MGC, etc jigged bone knives. Really nice! Plus (surprise!!!) a shield just like on the Master Series but instead of silver it is antiqued bronze with "Limited Edition" enscribed where you would see "Master Series" on the 532MS. Bolsters were free of scratches too.
Soooo for anyone else who might be interested, I strongly recommend you follow through and get one (I think TOTK still has some available). I'd go so far as to say that if this had a BG42 blade I think I might actually prefer it to the checked green pakkawood 532MS!
I still kind of laugh at these being shipped with a leather pouch. They're that "inbetween size" where some folks carry them on the belt. Me? I have always carried my 532+ in my pocket as a pocket knife. I still am a firm believer in this design as a "sleeper" in the Buck line. It makes for an exquisite executive type pocket midlock with a highly functional blade shape and length for out and about work chores.
At any rate, Chris and Marti of Top of Texas Knives, my thanks! Great service and a definate keeper in this knife!
