Well I didn't really like the small lanyard that my large 21 came with so I took it off. I personally like the look without it but I would also like to keep trying to make one work bc I do like the look that some of you guys have on yours. I cant help but notice a lot of pictures with what appears to be 550 cord through the stock lanyard post. My question is: how the heck did you do that??

Just remove about an inch or so of the guts and pull the cord back over it so you have an "empty" section of the outer cord, melt it to a point and feed it through the lanyard pin. :)

Agreed. I got it to work on a small Seb lanyard pin. I'm not sure if the hole is the same size or not. I did like Haze said, cutting it at angle to help create the point. I then cut it so it was square and all corded after getting it threaded.

Thanks for the input, Ill try it out. I believe I tried this method before and the "guts" kept getting hung up when I would try to pull it through.

It is possible. :)

I just did this the hard way on my old pivot zaan. No take down tool so I had to feed it through. Man that was frustrating.

I asked CRK and they said that they usually remove one, sometimes two inner strands - I took out two inner strands and it worked great! Have done it on 3 CRK's so far.

Key is to cut at a nice shallow angle, and when melting make sure to get all the inner core ends to melt too. Then with your finger twist it all down while still soft from heat, into a point - a slightly flat point is better so the pliers have some purchase.

I did mine without disassembly of the knife - just have to be a little careful but quite doable.

Btw, the removal of the one or two inner strands, makes the knots a lot tighter too.
