550 Griptilian Question :)

So I just got my first Benchmade a 550 combo edge. Its probably me just being paranoid and babying all my knives too much after just getting them. But there is something on the griptilian that is bugging me. When the blade is locked open and i go to use the axis lock to disengage it, it tends to stick sometimes and then makes a click when it disengages from the blade. It only seems to happen when i open it from the thumb hole, when i just open it with the lock it doesn't stick at all. Any recommendations to heal it? Or am i just being paranoid and all of them do this.

Thanks,
Andrew

It is a used knife but i dont know how used. But i will give it some time. Thanks.

Heres a picture of it.

my mini grip's axis lock was kind of sticky on one side if i disengaged it with one finger when i first got it and it did kind of click but after a few days it broke in and no problems at all with it. can't speak on a used one though. if you are worried send it to benchmade for service.

Same here with two new BM's having axis locks.

I put some oil right on the tang where the axis lock rolls across to lock up and within a couple of days of deploying (having fun) that gritty, grinching, catching, don't-feel-right, disengagement disappeared.

Now they're like butter. Break-in is the correct advice.

Thanks so much guys! You eased my nerves :) now to open it a lot!

 It is a good knife! I have had mine for a year and a half I think and it is my hiking backpacking blade. A great user. Mine still does what you mention, but I really have to flick it open HARD! But that is ormal due to the lock wearing. Nice thing about the AXIS is even if it wears lockup remains solid for the duration of the knives life. I have never heard about an AXIS that has worn out. Other locks such as liner and framelocks can wear out within a few years and need to be sent in for repair. Al normal wear and tear. The AXIS just takes the wear and tear better then others.
