Anybody have a setup for underarm or across chest carry using 550? I tried searching and did find anything though I've seen pictures. I like neck carry, but with larger knives, it isn't very comfortable.

Thanks,
tjg

Hello Pinetree,

How about an adjustable, leather shoulder harness??
I build one for large or small knife carry, either tip up or tip down. Most are worn across the back, however, it can be moved to the front, for across the chest carry.
Visit the "Leather Sheath" section, on this site, www.sunrisecustomknives.com

You'll need a sheath that can handle inverted carry though...

It's not the harness, it's the sheath . . .

If you hold the sheath and attempt to throw the knife from it, it should stay put. That sounds extreme, but it's easier than jumping from a 6 foot ladder.

Obviously, big heavy knives don't do so well and require straps and snaps, friction alone in a kydex sheath won't necessarily be enough. A 4 inch blade rattling around the inside of your clothing should be well restrained.

I have been wearing a baldric rig around since i learned about it on here. I currently have a CR GB 5.5 " that i carry comfortably inverted under my left arm when im here on the base. It works great!!!!! The sheath is an okuden and the knife fits very snug in it. I made the rig while looking at the guide i found online. If you google baldric rig you will get some hits with some good info, if you wanna know more let me know!!!!
