First off, I'm a new member here. I am starting to really get into BM knives and I figured this forum would be the best place to ask questions and learn as much as I can. So I ran across a BM online ( http://www.knifexx.com/p-5006-bench...ed-551bk-le-special-pricing-is-available.aspx) that I really liked and wanted to purchase and ended up wasting a lot of time trying to research just exactly what it is, but unfortunately didn't find much of anything and by the time I got around to buying it, someone had already beaten me to it. I was hoping somebody could give me a little more info and possibly help track one down. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have 5 BM knives so far and look forward to growing my collection.
 
Are you LEO?

Are you buying the knife as department gear or your personal collection.

If you are LEO, then you can order from them with proper form (departmental approval, etc).

If you want to buy it for your own personal collection, buying from online store would be far easy than that. I didn't think BKC gives you LEO discount. (I may be not up to date on this info though).

I am about to get hired on with Sheriff's Dept., but I would like this for personal collection. I have been scouring all sorts of online stores and sites and I have never seen anything like that grip other than the Camp Perry one. Thanks for the quick reply!

Not sure if anyone else followed that link, but they APPARENTLY still have the old pricing, better jump on it while you can!:thumbup:
 
There have been several Grips with similar G10 scales. 551BK-1301, 551-1304, 551 G10 REI.
 
X15TN is a great steel. I have it on my H2O Grip and it takes a razor sharp edge with minimal effort. Extremely rust resistant too.
 
Yeah I should have just gone ahead and bought that bad boy. I just bought the 551 g10 special edition from REI last week, which is why I was a little hesitant about buying that one. :D
 
Is KnifeXX a safe/reliable site to order from? Prices seem pretty darn good,but I have never used them before.....most of my knives come from Knifeworks and Amazon.
 
I ordered two 746 LE black/green g10 grips from knifexx. I also got a BM 51 with my initials engraved on blade as a gift from a friend and they ordered it through knifexx. I have no complaints.

Basically I think they are undervalued at $142 when you consider what other G10 Griptilians are selling for for (REI exclusive, Camp Perry, and 2013 Shot Show) although the steel is not as high-end. Plus this one has a unique pocket clip (star logo).

Also, I really like the blue/black color combo. I'll probably carry one, keep one NIB in my collection, and use one to sell/trade eventually.
