555 vs 556

Well, I'm an owner of a 556, and I'm debating whether to get a 555. It seems somewhat reduntant to be, but then again, in my opinion, redundancy is good (less chance of total failure). Is it worth the 50$? Will it be significantly different? Or should I save the money to get another knife?

I don't put my knives through any sort of heavy use, so chances of breakage are pretty slim. I'm just wondering if it would be useful to have both, assuming both will be EDCs.

Thanks.

It depends; do you want a modified sheepsfoot blade? Do you like hole-openers? Do you like oval hole-openers?

I really like my 555, and it's one of my EDCs (when it's legal).

I chose the 555 over the 556 b/c of the opening hole and blade shape. I think that you will probably like it. Maybe, if your 556 is plain edge, get the 555 in serrated or vice-versa which would give you more options. Or, maybe get one with the black blade coating so you can have a more salt water resistant model if you go into the ocean a lot.

I'd go with the 556. I prefer studs to holes. It also has a pointy tip that I find more useful.
