I just purchased a 560 on ebay with the intentions of converting it to a "buckbenza". It has the same handle finish as Klaus' 560, and I am cutious how durable the finish on the handle is. So if anyone that has had one of these fine knives for a while could help me out , I would appreciate it.

MW - The pic is Buzzbait´s and he kind of "invented" the Buckbenza monicker - I have to appologize to Buzz for the impression I might have made on "stealing" his work.

And its not a "coating" but plain Ti on the handle - therefor I would expect it to be VERY durable - at least mine doesn´t show any wear ot tear and I have seen no 560 to do so. The champagne effect of the handle is just the way the last company doing the handles did the Ti "baking" process and should stay that way for a looong time.

Just my 2 €cents

I carried the old 560 for a long time. The finish held up well and when it did need cleaning up some flitz and some 0000 stell wool had it looking like new.

Klaus,

My understanding if the Ti on the 560 is that it IS coated, with "what", how, or at what point in the process it is done - I don't know!? I just recently had a conversation with someone at the factory regarding making some modifcations to my 560's that would require drilling a hole in the handle. The reply was that doing so might leave "raw material" exposed. While there is no question as to t he durability of the handle material, it is still a "coated" or "treated" material over the Ti.

Dan,

your information seems to be more "from the horses mouth" than my uneducated guess - I still would **think** that its not coated but that it is treated does make sense to me.

Regards

Klaus
