So far I've come across 560's that are black, gray, champaign(gold)and one thats polished, are there any others? These really make great case fillers for my 110 collection.:)

I have a model 186 which looks identical to the satin finished 560 but it has a clip, and is a take-down version.
Sent in to Joe Houser, and had him put the BG42 plain, and part serrated blades for it as well as can put the original blade back in
Was only made for about 3 years back beginning in 1986. In fact the 560 came out after the 186, and was copied from it.

I've got a 186 too, with a 560 blade. The original blade had a bent tip after if fell 4 feet onto a steel beam. The 186 was replaced with the 560 because people kept sending their 186's back to Buck to have it reassembled.

I bought mine brand new, and still have the box, papers, takedown wrench, and shorter screws in case you don't want the clip on.
The thing that gets me is I thought the instruction leaflet you get with the knife explains very well with pictures, and info on how to take it down for cleaning, etc., and assembly so don't know why people could not figger it out. I know I did not ever have a problem with assembly/dis-assembly but followed the directions to a tee without a hitch.
My original blade still says 186 on it, and it is in excellent condition other than having been sharpened a couple of times. I carried it for a short time when I bought it but something told me to put it aside, and put it in my collection. Glad I did now as now years later they are very rare, and the last time I saw one at a gun and knife show(2-3 years ago) the guy wanted $250 for it(my sales receipt for the knife shows $85.00 for it from the knife shop I bought it from). Made me feel good I decided to not carry it anymore, and then when the chance came along decided to have Joe Houser here on the forums make up the other blades for it in BG42.
Just my .02 cents rounded off to a buck :D

PS-I even put the bandit thumbstud on the blades to make it a BuckBenza:)

Two of mine (gold & polished)are Buckbenzas too, I think this set up is possibly the best EDC going.

I bought my 186 new too, but I don't have the box, papers, and the white plastic blade sheath (used for safe assembly/dis-assembly) any more. I do have all the original screws and wrench. Did you know Buck can still supply those screws and hex-wrench? Talk to Joe Houser for that. I wanted a spare set of screws but was unable to find them in local hardware shops because the screws have an oddball thread pitch. Thanks to Buck's exemplary customer service I now have a spare set of screws for my 186. :)

The 560 blade that's now in my 186 was ordered through a local outdoor shop, I was really amazed they were able to get one for me at a very modest price.

Oh gads I forgot about the plastic sheath, and I have that too.
Thanks on the info for extra screws, and wrench.

Larry
