5684 & 5685

Was wondering if anyone can tell me if there is a difference between the 5684 and the 5685 other than the color of the handles and sheaths and also the markings on the blades. The 5685's seem to be a little better finished than the 5684's. I assume thats because the 5684's were government issue and the 5685's were more for the civilian market. Mainly wondering if they received the same heat treatment. Thanks for any info that anybody might have.

The heat treat was the same. As you said, the only difference was in the handle finish.
