Hey, I noticed some of the newer CRK knives I bought (through dealers) are 58-59 RC hardness. I am guessing the answer is no, but I figured I would ask- is there a really functional difference between the two for light to normal EDC purposes?

Yours are the higher hardness. Birth cards are incorrect. Check the FAQ on the CRK site.

Frankly, I never had a problem with the supposedly softer older versions. In use I have not seen a difference between CRK and Spyderco S35VN, and Spyderco, Benchmade, and Buck S30V. Maybe I have just been lucky and the ones I have are at the high end of the stated hardness range, but that has been my experience.

I heard that each point it goes up on the RC scale is like a huge difference. So that the difference between 59 to 60 is greater than the difference between 58 to 59. I am not sure if this is true, but I had heard it is.
