585 Mini Barrage w/Tanto blade question

Hi - looking for input from a owner of the 585 with the D2 tanto blade.

Is the blade chisel ground, or does it have the standard V grind as on other knives?

And if you've carried for an EDC, does that blade shape perform well for average day to day use?

I haven't used a tanto blade before and am pondering giving one a go to see how I like it. I've looked at the Emerson mini 7 too, but think I may have trouble with the chisel grind. Sharpening impaired. :)

Thank you for the input.

Joe

Don't have one (few do) but I can't imagine that it's chisel ground.

Take a look at the 587 Warn tanto-- G10 scales MUCH nicer.

My full size 587 Warn is ground on both sides, The tip is quite thin for a tanto due to how much tip they use for the tanto portion. I do much prefer the G10 scales, even with the added weight.

I guess I'll have to try one to see how I like it.

If nothing else, the scales will work on the standard bladed version, correct?

I have both the 583-1 Warn Barrage Tanto and the 587-1 Warn Mini Barrage Tanto. Both have D2 steel blades and G-10 scales which I consider upgrades compared to the standard Barrage and Mini Barrage knives which I also have. They do not have chisel grind blades. Nice knives and the 587-1 is still available from one of the major internet knife vendors. Unfortunately not a BF member so not supposed to mention their name. Think Louisiana though.

You guys convinced me to give one a try. They must be almost dried up as they're kinda hard to find. I did find one down south (thanks tatfiend) and placed the order.
