I am goign to assume since the address was published in a book by the author that it is okay to post it publicly witht he instructions included. They will sned you a list of parts and prices for the stuff that they have to build the forge in the book (I know this is usless for most of you here), as well as the cost of the refractory (bags of mix).

The address came from the atmospheric forge book I bought from lindsay not so long ago.

I know some of you swear by your forced air gas forge, but the atmospheric units I have seen work quite well. Somebody tell me what makes one better than the other please.

The advantage of forced air is the ability to control the mix .With atmospheric mix you have air at a fixed pressure,thus the only control is to reduce the gas amount.This is how a propane plumbers torch works.When you add the ability to increase the air pressure,you then can control the mix to a greater degree,and thus add more total fuel/air to the combustion chamber.This is how a welders torch works.Both torches will get things hot.But if you need to control the reduction of the furnace atmosphere,a forced air system is advantageous(and reaches a higher temperature).All that said,I use an atmospheric forge.When I build my permanent larger shop,I will build a forced air forge.

Do you have any trouble getting to welding heat?

I keep hearing it both ways, but doubt seriously it woudl be a problem unless the burners are too small for the chamber they are heating.
