This was a fun project, and the first straight razor I've made in years. Really, it falls between 6/8 and 7/8, but I figured no one would know what the hell I was talking about if I said .800". I like a bit of chunk in a straight razor - for whatever reason, the mass feels right to me, and the results feel smoother. The blade is Crucible CPM-154 Fine Mesh, and has jimping on top and bottom of the tang, which is long and sweeping - the added length feels right for my pinkie finger. All surfaces are mirror polished except the primary bevel, which I've shamelessly left with a machine satin finish - should I decide that this wedge needs to be more hollow, it'll be easier to refinish.
The scales are ivory G10, with thin titanium liners which I've anodized a deep blue. They feature a nearly impossible to photograph shallow hollow scallop which fades front to back. The titanium screws used for the pins are anodized to match the scale liners. Phosphor bronze washers complete the equation, as the titanium washers I made felt awful no matter how I finished them, and were too thick for the desired fitup, anyway.
I've included a photo of the razor prior to assembly to show off the anodizing, as it's a detail that rather demure once it's completed.
