I´m looking for a knife about 6" long featuring flat grounded blade at a broadness of approx. 1,75". I intend to use the knife as a camping tool as well as a survival tool. But for the most occasions as an ordinary kitchen knife. As for the steel regarded; I´d like something like BG 42, D2, M2, Cpm420V and so on. I mean, no common 440 steel. Thx for your advice!!

dePaul,

Check out the Combat Patrol Bowies made by Allen Blade. http://hometown.aol.com/bladecutlery/index.html Don't let the name of the blade fool you, I think this might be along the lines of what you are looking for.
Not only does he make awesome blades, you can choose the steel you want and at a "VERY reasonable price to boot.
Good luck.

Allen certainly does provide a great product for a great value, especially his 52100 blades. You might also want to wander over to the Busse forum and investigate the new Natural Outlaw. This will meet up very closely with your size requirements and INFI steel is tough to beat for most outdoors utility applications.

In that size and thickness, the Buck 119 "Special" suits the bill; it's a shame you do not want 440, let alone 420HC as I regularly use the 119 in the kitchen and find it works great. It has been retired from camping and hunting chores but still has a place in my heart and kitchen, after over 20 years!

Since Bronco already mentioned the Natural Outlaw, I'll throw in the T.H. Rinaldi Warhawk (I think it's 6.5").
I'll give you a link if I can find it.

Oops, it was the Tempest I was thinking of. Available with a 6.5 or 7.5" blade in ATS-34, BG-42, A2, or D2. www.pe.net/~thrblade/.com

Saw the post below, and I recently purchased a Busse Basic #5. Very strong, well balanced, and well made knife. The assymetrical edge on Busses takes a little getting used to and I haven't really gotten used to sharpening it yet. Lots of info on the Busse forum.

Bronco hit it on the nose, as usual.

Still, if upwards of $260 US is a little stiff for you, another Busse you might consider is the Basic No. 5. The blade length is about 5.5" from hilt to tip, with comfortable rubber-like handle, in a light-weight package, at about half the price of the Outlaw. And you still get the advantage of Busse's modified INFI steel and heat-treat.

I've carried a #5 for almost a year in my truck, and it's been a very handy and efficient tool. I think it would make quick work of any kitchen chore, could handle field dressing and most camp duties, and even light chopping. Great balance, strong, takes and holds a superb edge, and is utterly dependable--all at a bargain price.

Thanks all you guys. You´ve helped me a lot. Now. The battle is on. I am considerring Rinaldi tech kitchen knife or Busse 7. Thanks again
