Now that I have a Ka-Bar BK9 and a Camillus BK&T 6 I've noticed the handles are way thinner in my hand than all other Beckers of both Camillus and Ka-Bars that I've owned. My two questions are why ( Is it the scales? ) and how to fix it? I've thought of cord wrapping, looking for after market handles or even older grivory. Thanks guys and gal!

some people have put a section of bike inner tube around the grip to thicken it

I have made rubber liners out of rubber roofing scraps. I just placed the handle slabs over some scraps and traced them out, then cut very carefully with a good pair of shears. I had to buy longer bolts when I did this, it adds 1/8" to the thickness. It actually worked pretty good.

You could also buy some liner material, or just cut up a dvd case and make your own liners.

Use an Xbox case to make cool green liners. Just trace the slabs and cut em put. Looks slick too.

I imagine it's the knife thickness. The scales should all be identical.
If you stretch on some inner tube, do it with the knife in the sheath.

Good options here, I'll try maybe all of them till I figure out what I want. I like the idea of innertube stretched over and I've been meaning to do this with my 2, but the liners should help the thickness issue. Im also into the cheap aspect of it! Shod cases are a good idea, but maybe too flashy for me. Good tip also on the knife being in the sheath for "installing" the innertube Guyon. Thanks guys!
