I want to purchase an 8" Diasharp but I am on a budget and cheap.

Would a 6"DMT Diasharp Coarse be able to flatten a Shapton 1000k and a King 4000k pretty easily?

I am just worried that a 6" would be a pain in the butt to use to flatten since it is smaller than the water stones.

I think the waterstone is going to cut into the metal that holds the diamonds and tear them off.

Have you seen this

Yes. How does it compare to the peacock sold at chefknivestogo or the Naniwa flattening stones.

I feel that if I were to spend $20-30 on a flattening stone, I would just dish out another $20 for a DMT 8' Diasharp that can serve two purposes.

Yah I'd be worried about the diamonds being taken out of the matrix when trying to flatten a water stone. As the particles of a water stone break off easily, as they were made to do.

I flaten my (belgium yellow) water stone on a smooth side walk tile.
Perfectly flat and it works.
And it's free
