I good buddy from my home town wanted a new knife to carry on his belt. Specified it had to be 6" OAL. I'm too left brained to come up with any decent, effective design myself. We looked at a few different designs, but he really liked the "Companion" EDC knife made by Brian Evans. And I agree...I have always liked that knife and admired the design, always wanted to make one. It has a nice profile that feels good in the hand, even with varying grips. The profile is where the similarity ends, tho. Rather than a 1/8" thick S35VN blade, mine is .090" 115W8 and figured walnut rather than G10. Also, I went with a rounded and polished spine rather than jimping, and there is no lanyard hole. Blade finish is at 400 grit, then polished with Mother's Mag (I LOVE that stuff....best metal polish out there). Spine is 1200 grit, polished. The grind is very very thin, and I'm honestly a little concerned about how well it will hold up in EDC use. It was less than 0.010" before applying the 30° edge. The steel is known for it's toughness (used in band saw production), so we'll see how it goes.
