For those who wonder
I wanted to try Tramontina brand and i saw this one at the shop for about ... 23$. I took it
. I like it
.
So, in brief: Solid knife, 6 inch stainless steel blade. Can't find any steel info on the knife and Tramontina site only says :"Highly resistant, Tramontina´s knives and pocketknives line have stainless steel blades with specific resources for every occasion". The blade is 3.5 mm thick where it enters the handle.
Out of the box it was not very sharp. I tried to cut 5 mm in diameter rope and it was too hard. But after 5 min of sharpening with few passes with Lansky multi-sharpener in the end it performed much better. Despite the significant change of the cutting performance it still takes too much effort to sharpen a stick of hazelbush (hard wood). Woodwork is way easier with my Cara Cara. Maybe the sharpening angle is wrong...we'll see
Handle - hard rubber one piece molded around the tang (which i think reaches the end of the handle because the magnet i have sticks to the end of the handle). the handle covers the tang fully. Big handle, comfortable, fills the hand well. The handle crosssection is approximatelly rectangular in the middle of the handle lenght. There is no lanyard hole.
The knife is very light. It penetrates well leather and other soft materials. I didn't try it on thin metal sheets...and probably won't
.
The sheath is made of Nylon and has full lenght, two side plastic insert (it covers the blade inside the sheath). It holds the blade really well. Only vertical carry.

so: Good, cheap, light, comfortable knife with thick, stainless steel blade (steel unknown...Help!). easy to sharpen and unfortunatelly it needs sharpening right out of the box.
