Couple of flea market finds. A Schrade USA stockman and a PAL Blade Co Electricians knife. The Schrade was $5 and it was in decent shape with exception to some slight rust and the sheeps foot had a chip taken out of the tip. My guess is some tried to pry with it or use it as a screw driver. I took it to the belt sander and rounded it off, looks like a seahawk beak now:D

The PAL Blade Co knife was $1 and pretty rusted and hard to open and close. A few minutes of cleaning and oiling and it's back to a usable knife. All and all for $6 bucks I'm a happy camper. It's nice to find a few users among all the broken and rusted shut beaters they usually have.

Great bargains. The Pal is especially nice!

nice job trev. i see what you mean about the seahawk beak. that's funny. and, i agree with glenn...that pal looks great to me. nice finds! thanks for sharing.

I would have slapped the six bucks on the table and ran before the seller changed their mind. Great find

dang good blades there. great what a little effort on can be applied to keep a tool as reliable as when it was first made. question on the backsprings for uncle henrys: were they a non-stainless metal?

Yes, the backsprings on those Uncle Henrys are carbon steel. It does seem kind of odd with stainless blades.

That's awesome! Love the seahawk beak and especially the pal. Nice finds.

Nice find on that Schrade. I have two of them, and one has been my EDC carry for a good while now. Great pattern.

Looks like a great find. Like glennbad said the Pal is really nice and that Schrade looks like it has plenty of pocket time left. ;)

Thanks guys, usually I come home empty handed so it's nice to score once in a while:D

The length closed is 3.5 inches.

I ran across this on the web about Pal Blade Co

Pal Blade and Tool Company

Pal Blade Company began in Plattsburgh, New York in 1935 as a merger between the Utica Knife and Blade Company and the Pal Blade Company of Chicago. On January 17, 1941 the company formally purchased the cutlery tooling and machinery of Remington Arms Company Cutlery Division, and set up a new factory in an existing building on Bigelow Street in Holyoke, Mass. They were in production by June, 1941 continuing many of the Remington patterns and also developed a line of their own in both hunting knives and pocketknives.

During World War 2 the company made the M3 knife, the M1 bayonet, the M4 bayonet, and some pocketknives such as the TL-29. They also made the Navy Mark 1 and Mark 2 sheath knives. They also supplied the military with millions of razor blades from their Plattsburgh factory. Their RH-36 pattern (Remington Hunting, Pattern 3, 6 inch blade) was purchased in large quantities by the military and sold to servicemen through the Army PX system.

Following the war they continued to make a line of commercial knives, but by 1953 the machinery was effectively worn out, and it was decided to close the factory. Pal Blade Company of Plattsburgh was acquired by American Safety Razor in 1953. They continued to manufacture razor blades, and remain in business making Personna and Bic razors and other products today under the American Safety Razor (ASR) company name."
