Most of the threads in this forum deal with relatively small, pocket-sized flashlights, such as the Surefires or the Inovas.

What are the experiences of folks here with the larger lamps: the 6 volt battery lanterns, and the million candlelight power lamps that connect to the cigarette lighter of your automobile? Which are the better ones, in your opnion/experience, and other than weight and size, what other considerations need to be taken when choosing one for a car kit?

My favorite 6 volt lantern is an old Duracell Durabeam that I have had for over twenty years. It isn't the best area light, but it will throw a spot about 300 yards. Too bad they've been discontinued forever. If you ever see one at a garage sale, buy it!

well, 6v lanters im not too sure on, but in terms of plug in spotlights, it really depends on how much you wanna spend. Lightforce sl240 blitz is a really nice halogen, havis shields makes a really nice HID...links below

I have the top one, with the 9.5" reflector, and boy does it go forever. I can light stuff up at least 1/4 mile away.

Really nice handheld spotlights, great mix of spot/flood. Nearly unbreakable. One of my favorite non-battery powered lights.
