Well, I'm looking to buy a new knife before too long, and I've decided to spend around $60 on a new knife. I want it to have good steel, better than AUS 8 at least, and the blade should be between 2.5" and 3.5". I'm open to tradition knives, assisted knives, tactical knives, slip joints, whatever, as long as it isn't serrated. Here are a few knives I'd been looking at, to give you an idea of what my interests are and also so I don't get a bunch of suggestions that I already know of:

Spyderco Centofante III
KaBar Dozier D2 folding hunter
Case Canoe
A.G. Russel 3" Lockback

I won't be using them for anything heavy, just standard EDC stuff.

The Queen Canoes are D2 and can be had for $50. Great knives.

Check out the Rat Cutlery Izulu. It is right in your price range and meets most, if not all, of your needs.

I've heard the Queen D2 knives can come ground pretty obtuse, is this true? I only have a sharpmaker, and don't feel much like doing much work on the edge.

From your list, I'd pick the Dozier as an EDC, but there are tons of good knives in that range. Keep in mind if you want a better steel than AUS8, the Case is out unless you go carbon. Their stainless is 420.

I'd planned on using their carbon.

I bought a Queen Canoe for my son for Christmas and then a Cattle King for myself and both could shave hair from my arm right out of the box.

From the knives you listed, I can personally recomend the centofante 3 as a fantastic all around blade.

I would have the Centofante III right now, but the person I was going to trade ( a good deal for him, I was trading a blue BM555HG) backed out.

Kershaw Blur. you aught to be able to find one for around that price. Mine hasn't left my pocket since I got it.:thumbup::thumbup:

benchmade griptilian 551
benchmade 530
benchmade mini griptilian
spyderco delica
spyderco native

I'm going to buy a BM555HG eventually, not the 551. The 530 is over $60 even without shipping. The Spyderco Native I'll have sometime next week (trade), and the next Spyderco I get will be the Centofante III.

As far as the Delica goes, I'm choosing the Centofante III because, among other things, it's a better slicer. The delica, from what I've heard, isn't that great of a slicer out of the box.

Well, for an additional $3 or so (prices vary, but I've seen 'em as low as $63), you could get a Kershaw Lahar, which is one heck of a steal for what you get, a VG-10 blade with a good slicer profile (with a little recurve added), G-10 handle, a flipper (non-assisted), and made in Japan:

i have both, and while the centofante 3 may be a better slicer, i find the delica to open much easier than the centofante, as a result i pretty much never carry the centofante, just sits at home in my desk.

that kershaw lahar is a very good choice but if your looking for somthing that looks a little more traditional with the same vg-10 steel you might want to take a look at the Kershaw Gentlemans folder with black micarta handle. there is some one on ebay selling a couple with buy it now for as cheap as you will ever see besides the kershaw factory sale if your lucky enough to find one.(no its not me)

I've heard this knife is quite large, do you know if this is true? Any experience with one?

Kershaw RAM or Boker Trance, and because I happen to have a pic of both (the wood scales on the RAM are custom, normally they are G10):

In all honesty, I'm not really looking to buy a Kershaw. I already have a couple, so I kinda want a different brand.
