If you're on the West Coast, USA, its coming up this hour. If you're east of me, you may have seen it already. 60 Minutes (CBS) is reporting on the very insular kingdom of Bhutan a bit to the east of Nepal on the south slope of the Himalayas. It's culturally closer to Tibet than India. They're terribly worried about whether the country's culture can stand up to that ruthless invader - the Internet.

At least the Internet doesn't come with tanks.

JKM,
That is the stated question, but the REAL question is: How long can the Oppressive and Repressive government stay in power?

Turns out the program was a repeat, and the "invasion from the sky" was mainly foreign television for the few people who have sets. And it was a pretty slick propaganda piece for "benevolent despotism."

So, relative to Bhutan, Nepal is the land of opportunity? So much for "gross national happiness"!
