ok guys im a little confused here. I jsut got in today a 6000 grit king waterstone. I let it soak in water for maybe 30min before using it. Now i have lately been using my Falkniven DC4 for all my sharpening needs. gives me a killer egde. SO going from the ceramic side of the falkniven to the 6000 waterstone i noticed that i am losing cutting performance. My tester is jsut free hanging receipt paper. I can cut micro curls on recepit paper after using my DC4 but when i go tot he 6000 it jsut drags, like it gave a coarser edge. Any ideas as to why this is happening? and no i dont have a nagura stone.

Waterstones are soft and it is easy to round edges, particularly if you hone edge-leading. What works for me is to hone edge-trailing when I use a waterstone.
