Is the blade play vertical or horizontal.. And how much.. More than a mm or so of play?
Framelock or liner lock

From my experience with my mini commander, I found by adjusting the upper detent you can tighten the pivot enough to eliminate play but also loose enough to keep the blade easy to open.

What I did was tighten the pivot until play was gone, then with a small flat head screw driver, I carefully pushed up on the upper detent bending it up only a slight amount.

I did it in small increments until I got the results I wanted. The key is small increments...

It also helped to center the blade, but for this I had to push the detent and also adjust the pivot several times until the blade centered.

If its lateral (side to side) blade play simply tighten the pivot screw a bit and be done with it. If its vertical blade play the lock most likely needs adjusted and for this just contact Emerson.

On all three of my Emerson knives there's a ball detent on the liner lock and there is an upper ball detent on the opposite liner ( a tab near the pivot). I think it's easier to see with the blade open.

I'm at work but when I get home tonight I'll see if I can photograph the upper detent.

Here's a picture of my mini com and two views of the pivot/lock area.

The screwdriver blade is pointing to the upper ball detent.
