Are the blades supposed to be more narrow from the nail notch to the tip compared to more modern 110’s ?

I don't know.
All the 110's that I know for sure are pre 1975* that I've seen photos of seem to be.

*Two small scale pins, squared bolsters, no dot, and 2 dot when the tang stamp is shown.

Just learning the differences. Dont want to bid on a knife that has been over sharpened.
And some sellers dont take good pictures of the tips so i pass as im sure its a shorter bkade lol

The early blades are a little more slender. Here's one that has pretty normal wear for that age.....it's about a '68 model.

One thing to remember is that the early knives had a lot of handwork on the blade with the result that there is also a lot of variation. In the attached photo notice the variation in the clip arc. That can make a lot of difference in appearance, especially near the tip. Top to bottom the knives are: V2/v1 1965-66; V3/v3 1967; V3/v4 1969; and The Federal 2014.

Very good info thanks.
I may bid on the ebay one that seems narrow but as stated the blades did vary just wanted to make sure ot was normal

The ebay knife is simular to your pic V..Rain

If it's the one that says:

Early 1970 to 1972 TWO LINE

I wouldn't get it......it's worn a little too much and you can do better.

There's one that says "67 to 72" (looks like 71 or 72 actually) that looks acceptable. Blade scratched up but might be ok with a Buck Spa treatment.

There's also one that's a lot like mine......be prepared to pay a little more for the right hand stamp, though. Looks like the original sheath, too.

Those year 110's should have good belly. DM

I agree. If the tip looks narrow, it has been over-sharpened or reshaped (usually to fix a broken tip). When measuring the "bellyless" 110's, they are always less than 3.75 inches. If there is a difference in the older 110's, It's usually that they tend to be slightly longer than 3.75--when they haven't been sharpened or shaped.
