Hi, Bucks aren't my specialty so I am turning here for some help. As best I can tell this is a well used 67'-72' Buck 110 with what I am guessing is original sheath. It's hard to see in the pictures but the sheath is stamped BUCK in the leather above the snap.

Does anyone know if this is the correct sheath and what an approximate value would be for this?

Sorry for the bad pics, if someone needs to see something more specific I can grab some pics. Thanks!

Maverick,

That looks like a 4th Version Variation 2 from about 1971-72. I'm not real good about sheaths, but I think it is correct.

If the spring holder is brass it's a 4th version (I can't tell from the photo's)

If it's stainless then it's into on of the first two variations of the 5th versions.

Welcome to the Buck area Maverick, Nice looking knife & sheath.
The 4th / 2nd and 5th / 1 are both listed as '70 to '72 in Joe's list and should have a sheath in house by Buck. Does the sheath have a model number on the back?
For my information is there a date significance on the model number above or below the belt loop and if the belt loop has racing stripes.

I do not see a model number on the sheath anywhere, nor do I see any racing stripes on the belt loop.

Here are some pics of another sheath that was in the box. I found a box that contained several loose Buck 110's and loose sheaths. That was the only 110 that had a pre-date code stamping so I figured it was more desirable and was hoping to match the sheath to it correctly.

And thank you all for the help and replies. What a great website full of great people!

I think that you have a 4/2 with a C sheath

Forth Version Variation 2 (1970-1972)16
Stamp: BUCK, U.S.A., Inverted, Left hand, 440C steel.
Blade/Butt rivets: Visible on both sides of bolsters, 2 rear, 1 front.
Inlay rivets: 2 (tiny) or 2 small headed.
Rocker rivet: Stainless, headed.
Sheath: Black leather. C.

The model number may be above the belt loop and hard to see

C. Buck leather shop—started early 1969.
1) Leather, BUCK on snap & flap, tooling lines on belt loop. Used maybe 2 years?
2) Leather, BUCK on snap and flap, plain belt loop, model # on back.

That is my opinion now we wait for someone who knows to see if I'm correct,

I'm still learning.

Mav,

bertl had it spot on with his first guess.

375dave should have added this above his data

"Forth Version, Brass Spacer/Spring holder separate piece, 2 variations"

Yes I should have also put above the data that Bertl was spot on. Now I regret the lack of form Etiquette

Well done gents. I think the scalloped top sheath is correct. But I've also seen a no 'Buck' snap with that model date. It was a transition sheath. DM
