I took a Kershaw Chive back to Excalibur Cutlery with my mind set on a Spyderco. Everything this store has is over-priced (SS Harpy=$99.99, SS Police=$134.95, Gerber Gator=$59.95, Scallion w/polymide handle=$49.99, Chive=$49.99, Whirlwind=$79.99, Blackout=$89.99 etc.) the only knife I could justify buying at these over the top high prices was the Spyderco Merlin. I've always wanted a folding hawkbill, so I said ah, screw it and forked over $69.99. I named him Baby Meat Hook. The only thing I don't like about this knife is the blade pin it has instead of an adjustable hex bolt. Why does Spyderco use these pins? Why not make them more user friendly? I know I'm not the only customer who likes to take their knives apart for a cleaning every now n' then. You know...to scrape the pocket lint out and oil the blade...why oh why do they make them this way??? And why do they use plain old (+) screws on the handles of some of their models?

Use Hex Bolts Damnit! or atleast bolts with these: (-)like Emerson uses. But please just not the pins! Anything but pins!

I think that Spyderco pin them shut for a reason.
It seems that it's very rare that a lockback would use screw and posts to secure the handle, probably because of the spring in the lock setup. I suppose it's something about liability.
As to the Merlin, I personally think you should refund it because Mike @ New Graham sells it at $44USD.

John, That's a good price I might be ordering one from you soon. What's FRN stand for?

Nice shop :p
But unfortunately i have not international ccard and i cant buy something here,rrrrrrrr....

Barefoot, Are you sure it's the Merlin and not the Civilian that's $200? I'm not familiar with the Czech so maybe what's $200 to you is like $70 to me. Do they sell the Merlin, Civilian, or Matriarch where you live? I highly recomend one for self defense, or even for clipping your toenails. :p

:footinmou <- This smilie has a foot fetish.

OK,Heres another idea.Find a place you can trust here and send them cash to buy for you and send you the knife. There are a couple of places that sell that may be willing to do this such as Mike at New Graham,Jeff at confederate cutlery of VA.,GlassHartt or maybe John F Jensen.

Not a regular money order, but some kind of international money order.
In America banks will issue a "foreign draft" to send money abroad. I don't know what the Czech term is.
Ask around. There is some way to do this.
