6A Steel

Does anyone know anything about 6A steel? Does it make decent knife? will it hold an edge?

My books show 6A as another name for 440C. Don't know if it is the Japanese equivalent or what. 440C is a good knife steel though.

Joe Talmadge's Steel FAQs state that 6A is another name for AUS6A. See HERE

AUS6A is roughly comparable to 440A, not 440C.
