Hello everyone, I'm thinking about picking up my first Schrade ( I come from a Buck family) and the 6OT has caught my eye. I really like the lanyard hole, but I was wondering how they were able to put a lanyard hole in without it affecting the lock back mechanism? Just wondering if the strength is affected in anyway. Thanks in advance for your insights and answers.

I'm sure the lanyard holes are through the bolster only and do not affect the lock mechanism.

Check the internet for some photos or drawings of lockback mechanisms. Here are some good photos, showing how the lock works, and how a normal lockback's moving parts do not extend into the far rear bolster area. http://www.jmoyerknives.com/lockback tutorial.html

thanks, i guess i asked because i have seen the locking mechanism on a buck 110, and to put a lanyard hole in it would interfere with where the spring is connected on the rear bolster, i was just wondering if schrade had moved the spring up or something?

You'd have to take one apart or X-ray it to see exactly the proximity of the moving parts to the lanyard hole. But obviously it's not interfering since the lock works just fine. :)
