  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

7 Days with Shiva Ki

I recently had the opportunity to spend a week with Shiva Ki at his home in Louisiana. He and I have been in contact for over a year via phone and email and he has been quite helpful in providing me with information, magazines, advice, and even tools to develop my knifemaking skills. He was also kind enough to send a few packages while I was deployed last year, which were definitely a boost for morale, as they included mags, pics, and other knifemaking information.

I spent a week with him and his son, a former Marine, recently, when Shiva offered to help mentor me in person. I gained a lot of knowledge from someone who has been creating quality knives for many years. I returned home with two cable damascus merc knives that I made while he assisted in direction. He also gave me a sword that he made years ago, but never finished, which I thought was pretty cool since I didn't know that he even made swords!

Just thought I'd share some words of positive experiences with such a talented knifemaker despite the controversy often displayed on this board.

Master Ki is obviously a class act. I am one of the folks that has ragged on him in the past, but I will admit that I was wrong about the gentleman.

Last Chance,
You lucky dog.Congrats on getting to hang with Shiva.
Thank you for serving!

Keith,
 post.

After the last thread on Ki, I dropped him an email, which lead to an exchange about blade performance, geometry, sharpening and such and how to use knives, in particular the extreme rope cutting he has on his website. He was friendly, open with information about knives and technique and frequently spoke well of others knives.

I have always found Master Shiva to be open, helpful and a true gentleman. His knives are without question among the best in the world, in my opinion, functional without being overdone. Great score on the sword!

You guys are just afraid of getting the "Mystical, vibrating palm of Death"! :D :p :D

Ok, I guess maybe I should stop hackin on him. :)
